Hyundai Mipo Bags Gas Carrier Trio

Ulsan-based shipbuilder Hyundai Mipo Dockyard has won an order for the construction of three gas carriers worth a total of KRW 166.5 billion (USD 140 million).

The order has been placed by an undisclosed European shipping company and includes construction of two liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers and one liquefied ethylene gas (LEG) carrier.

According to Hyundai Mipo, the newly ordered trio is scheduled for delivery by the end of October, 2017.

The orders comes in the wake of a contract for four MR product tankers also from an unnamed European client, inked two weeks ago.

The vessels, worth USD 143.9 million, are scheduled to be delivered by the end of the first half of 2017.

The shipyard’s current orderbook now stands at KRW 3.97 trillion (USD 3.38 billion).
