Hyundai Mipo to Build Boxship Trio for Asian Owner

South Korea’s shipbuilder Hyundai Mipo Dockyard has clinched orders to build three container vessels for an Asian client.

Under the deal, Hyundai Mipo would build the 2,500 TEU vessels and deliver these to their owner starting from the second half of 2020.

The shipbuilding contracts, worth KRW 120 billion (USD 106.2 million), were revealed on March 21.

So far in 2019, Hyundai Heavy Industries secured over USD 1 billion worth of orders to build a total of 19 ships, including four oil tankers.

Hyundai Heavy, together with its affiliates, is aiming to secure USD 15.9 billion worth of shipbuilding deals this year, USD 3.5 billion of which is set to be obtained by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard.
