IADC to Present Ecosystem Services Report in Bali

René Kolman, Secretary General of IADC will be presenting on the topic of “Ecosystem Services” at the 30th IAPH World Ports Conference in Bali, Indonesia.

The event will take place on 7- 12 May, 2017 at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC).

Last year, IADC published the “Ecosystem services: Towards integrated marine infrastructure project optimization” report. The study was carried out by the Ecosystem Management Research Group (ECOBE) of the University of Antwerp.

The report gives a detailed look into how using ecosystem services (ES) can help enable the design of more sustainable dredging and marine infrastructure works and their implementation and realization in environmentally sensitive areas.

The Secretary General will highlight the concept of ES, present a case study on Botany Bay in Sydney, Australia and explain how the concept could be an important tool for achieving broad public support for ports and dredging projects.
