Icahn ups Cheniere stake

Billionaire investor Carl Icahn boosted its stake in Houston-based Cheniere Energy to 11.43 percent.

Icahn now owns 27 million shares in the U.S. LNG player, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Cheniere also recently appointed two managing directors of Icahn Capital, a subsidiary of Icahn Enterprises, to its board of directors.

As we have done with a number of companies in the past, we hope to contribute meaningfully as Board members towards enhancing shareholder value at Cheniere,” Icahn said after the announcement.

Cheniere is currently building two LNG export plants, namely the Sabine Pass in Cameron Parish, Louisiana and the Corpus Christi in San Patricio County, Texas.
