IKM Testing Thailand has been awarded a service contract by Aibel for the drilling platform which will be used on the Johan Sverdrup field, offshore Norway.
The platform deck for the drilling platform will have three modules. Aibel will build the largest module and the main support frame at the company’s yard in Thailand.
IKM said on Thursday that work on combining the three modules will start in the autumn of 2017. The finished platform will be handed over to the field operator, Statoil, in the second quarter of 2018.
The scope of the subcontract services includes the provision of labor, equipment, and consumables to carry out the onshore works for chemical cleaning and hot oil flushing. The work will be done in Thailand from January 2017 and will last for four months.
The Johan Sverdrup field is located in the North Sea around 155 kilometers west of Karmøy in Rogaland county. Partners in the field include Lundin Norway, Petoro, Aker BP, and Maersk Oil.
Phase one of Johan Sverdrup consists of four bridge-linked platforms, in addition to three subsea water injection templates. The planned production capacity of the first phase is 315 000 to 380 000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
