India: Port of Kandla to Get New Terminal

Port Technology reports that Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd has confirmed the build of a new US$216 million dry bulk terminal in the Port of Kandla.

In February, the Kandla Port Trust announced that it had elected Adani Ports, the port operating arm of the Adani Group, as its preferred bidder for the terminal.

The facility is expected to be completed within two years, according to the Hindu Business Line.

This terminal, which will have an annual capacity of 20 million metric tonnes, will be located near the Kandla Port-owned Port of Tuna.

By building the facility in Tuna, larger vessels will no longer have to unload their cargo onto barges to reach the Port of Kandla.
