Indonesia: Pertamina to Buy 15 Tankers

Pertamina, State Oil and Gas Company, unveils a plan to purchase 15 tanker vessels until 2014 to help it distribute refined fuel and LNG across Indonesia.

As Pertamina spokesman Mochamad Harun said to Jakarta Globe, the company would buy the tankers at a total estimated price of $370 million in the next two years. He also said that 12 tankers are expected to be delivered to the company this year, two in 2013 and one in 2014, without disclosing where the company would buy the tankers.

All of these purchases are part of the company’s long-term investment plan to buy 26 tankers through 2015.

The company is currently using 173 vessels to distribute fuel of which 153 are being used to ferry refined fuel and 20 to ship LNG. Pertamina owns 51 and leases 122 vessels.
