Inpex awards Ichthys LNG contract to Petrofac

Petrofac, a UK-based oil and gas facilities service provider, has been awarded an Integrity and Maintenance Programme Development contract by INPEX for the Ichthys LNG Project in Australia.

Ichthys is a natural gas field located offshore W. Australia. The field is being developed using an offshore platform connected via an 889 km pipeline to an onshore plant in Darwin.

Petrofac’s asset performance management consultancy Plant Asset Management will complete the work over the next 20 months. It will be one of the largest global projects awarded to Plant Asset Management, involving an integrated gas chain covering both upstream and midstream assets, Petrofac has explained.

The company has further said that prior to start-up of the offshore and onshore facilities Plant Asset Management will deliver a fit for purpose integrity and maintenance program. This will allow for timely review and acceptance of the maintenance and inspection programme by operations personnel, and ensure repair strategies and spares are in place.

David Heavey, Business Manager (Australia), Plant Asset Management, said: “This win is a testament to the hard work our team has put into year-on-year growth in Australia, building on the success achieved in providing high quality maintenance and integrity builds in a timely and cost effective manner. We look forward to continuing to build the relationship with INPEX over the next 20 months.”
