Italian contractor picks up work on North Sea gas platform

Italy-headquartered contractor Rosetti Marino has tucked a multimillion-euro front end engineering design (FEED) assignment under its belt for a high-pressure, high-temperature (HP/HT) gas production platform in the North Sea off the coast of Denmark.

Rosetti Marino’s FEED contract, worth approximately €9 million, is with INEOS E&P for the Hejre to South Arne development project, encompassing all engineering activities related to the Hejre and South Arne topsides tie-in modifications.

Located in license block 05/98 in the Danish sector of the North Sea, the Hejre HP/HT reservoir lies about 300 km west-northwest of Esbjerg and 5 km south of the border between the Norwegian and Danish sectors. Activities are due to start immediately and are expected to be completed by the beginning of 2025.

The Italian player outlines that the FEED work will serve as the basis for the execution phase of the project, in which a successful bidder will enter into an engineering, procurement, construction, installation, hook-up, commissioning (EPCIC) contract to deliver the topsides to INEOS and carry out the offshore activities necessary for the installation of Hejre and South Arne solution for the Hejre field start-up.

According to Rosetti Marino, two bidders have been awarded identical FEED activities and the works will be carried out with a dual FEED approach for approximately ten months. In the last part of the FEED period, a call for tenders will be launched to the two FEED contractors for the award of the EPCIC contract. The bidder that presents the most interesting solution from a technical and commercial point of view will be awarded the EPCIC contract.

Oscar Guerra, CEO of Rosetti Marino, commented: “We are thrilled to be selected as one of the finalists for the INEOS Hejre project FEED competition. This opportunity represents a significant milestone for our company and we are eager to collaborate with INEOS to deliver a solution that exceeds expectations and contributes to the success of this landmark project.”

Rosetti Marino’s FEED assignment comes shortly after Apollo landed a project management consultancy (PMC) contract for INEOS E&P’s Hejre oil and gas project, which has been under development since the early 2010s. This project entails the development of a greenfield platform, subsea infrastructure, and associated complex brownfield modifications.

The UK firm will support the Hejre development through engineering discipline and project control personnel from front end engineering design to first oil. The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) has extended the Hejre permits, 5/98 and 1/06, from 2040 to 2047.
