Japan power utilities’ LNG consumption down in Oct

LNG use by Japan’s ten independent regional electric power companies dropped 8.1 percent in October when compared to the same month in 2014.

The companies consumed 4.13 million mt of liquefied natural gas in October, preliminary data from the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan (FEPC) reveals.

October purchases by the ten utilities were at 4.05 million mt of LNG, down 18.9 percent from the same month in 2014.

According to FEPC, total electricity generated and purchased across the ten companies in October declined by 4.6 percent to 65.71 billion kWh.
