Japanese Insurance Company to Invest EUR 30 Million in German OWF

Japanese insurance company Dai-ichi Life informed this morning that it will participate in an offshore wind project financing in Germany with EUR 30 million (approx. JPY 3.5 billion).

The company said the wind farm is expected to be built and operational “in the years ahead” and did not disclose the project’s name or any further details.

Dai-ichi Life said its investment in areas such as infrastructure and project finance in FY 2016 exceeded JPY 100 billion (approx. EUR 818 million), but this is the first time the company will invest in an offshore wind farm.

“The Company endeavors to become a more sophisticated institutional investor and to diversify its investment approach going forward. As an institutional investor, we will proactively pursue better investment yield that enhances our corporate value,” Dai-ichi Life stated.
