Japanese utilities up LNG use in November

Japan’s ten regional electric power companies consumed 4.7 million tonnes of LNG in November, compared to 4.6 million tonnes the companies used in November of 2013.

The power companies bought 4.55 million tonnes of LNG in November, compared to 5.01 million tonnes a year ago, data from the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan (FEPC) showed.

Total electricity generated and purchased across the ten companies in November dropped by 3.5% from a year earlier to 69.44 billion kWh, due principally to decreased heating demands caused by relatively higher temperatures in late November than the previous year.
