Japan’s November LNG imports down 1 pct

Japanese imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports declined 1 percent in November when compared to the same month a year ago, according to the provisional data released by Japan’s Ministry of Finance.

Japan, the world’s top LNG buyer, imported 6.34 million tonnes of LNG last month compared to 6.41 million tonnes in November 2017, the data shows.

This represents the first monthly year-on-year decline following an upward trend in LNG imports for three straight months.

The value of November LNG imports was about $3.63 billion, a rise of 37.6 percent on year.

On the other side, the country’s coal imports for power generation rose in November by 5.1 percent to 10.05 million tonnes, the data shows.
