Japan’s Tepco ups May LNG imports

Japan’s utility Tokyo Electric Power (Tepco) said its imports of LNG in May were at 1.76 million tonnes, a rise of 2.3 percent compared to May last year.

The utility used 1.67 million tonnes of LNG in April, a drop of 7.3 percent as compared to a year ago.

In April-May period, Tepco bought 3.43 million tonnes and consumed 3.32 million tonnes of LNG.

Tepco is Japan’s first importer of the chilled fuel, and it imports LNG from projects located around the globe.
