Jiangsu Hantong Lays Keel for 2 Bulkers

Chinese shipbuilder Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry yesterday held keel laying ceremonies for two bulk carriers at its Hantong Shipyard.

The keel for a 38,000 dwt bulk carrier was laid at the shipyard’s slipway No.1, and the keel laying for the 64,000 dwt bulker was carried out at slipway No.2.

The 38,000 dwt vessel received class approval by Bureau Veritas, while DNV GL granted class approval to the 64,000 dwt bulker.

The larger bulker was reportedly ordered by Canada’s Lighthouse Shipping. The 38,000 dwt bulker was built for the company’s fleet.
