JMU, Aluship to develop SPB tanks for LNG fueling

Japan Marine United Corporation signed a cooperation agreement with Aluship Technology of Poland on the construct self-supporting prismatic-shape IMO type B (SPB) LNG cargo and bunker tanks.
Under the agreement, the two companies will provide the technology for the European market.
The SPB tanks eliminate the sloshing within the liquefied natural gas storage tanks.
The two companies intend to study the application of the SPB LNG tanks as conventional cargo tanks as well as LNG fuel tanks.
JMU notes that the LNG fueling infrastructure in Europe is well advanced, providing the company an opportunity to expand into a new market.
