Judge rules Cove Point LNG zoning exemptions invalid

Zoning exemptions granted for the Dominion’s Cove Point LNG terminal by the Calvert County Commissioners have been ruled invalid, reports the Associated Press.

According to reports, judge James Salmon ruled that the exemptions violate uniformity provision in the Land use article as well as the Maryland constitution.

Judge argued that the commissioners tried to exempt the LNG import-export facilities, completely, from the county zoning regulations.

This decision is expected to delay the construction of the project while the company itself does not expect any impact on schedule.
