”K” Line Fixes Two LNG Carriers

”K” Line LNG Shipping (UK) Limited (K-LNG), a subsidiary of Japanese Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (”K” Line), has through the joint-venture consortium with Chandris (Hellas) Inc. entered into long-term time charter contracts with the BP group for two LNG carrier newbuildings.

The vessels, which will have a capacity of 173,400m3, will be constructed by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in South Korea.

The delivery of the vessels is scheduled for 2018. It is expected that the carriers will primarily be engaged in the transportation of LNG from the Freeport LNG project in Texas, USA.

K-LNG is working as a ship manager, owner and regional agent for ”K” Line’s business activities within Europe, and the wider Atlantic region, namely in the marine transportation of LNG.

With the addition of these two vessels, K-LNG will manage a fleet of 10 LNG carriers.
