Kairos supplies LNG to ferry in port of Nynäshamn

The port of Nynäshamn, a part of the Ports of Stockholm, had its LNG debut with a first ship-to-ship bunkering operation there.

Hamburg-based Nauticor, a unit of Linde, said via social media that the port of Nynäshamn debuted on the small-scale LNG scene last weekend.

Namely, the first ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operation at the port was conducted when Gotland’s LNG-fuelled ferry Visborg received the chilled fuel from Nauticor’s Kairos, the world’s largest liquefied natural gas bunkering vessel.

Kairos, with a tank capacity of 7,500 cubic meters is owned by Babcock Schulte Energy. Klaipedos Nafta and Nauticor chartered the vessel through the joint venture Blue LNG, where Nauticor had a 90 percent share, and Klaipedos Nafta had a 10 percent share.

Klaipedos Nafta sold its 10 percent stake in the joint venture in late April 2019, making Nauticor the sole charterer of Kairos. The transfer will become effective as of September 30, 2019.
