Keppel Delivers New Rigs to Transocean

Transocean, one of the world’s largest offshore drilling contractors, has taken delivery of its two new jack-up rigs from Keppel FELS shipyard in Singapore.

The naming ceremony for the twin Super B Class Bigfoot jack-up rigs, Transocean Siam Driller and Transocean Andaman, was held on February 2, 2013 in Keppel FELS.

The two jack-ups are already contracted to Chevron for work offshore Thailand.

John Stobart, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Transocean said, “This occasion also marks an important milestone in another very long relation with Chevron in the Gulf of Thailand. For decades, Transocean and its legacy companies have had the proud distinction of being partners as a primary provider of contract drilling services to Chevron Thailand and its precursors. Our pride comes from being chosen and then being chosen again to be a part of what has become well known in the industry as one of the most innovative and efficient continuous drilling campaigns in the history of the offshore industry.”

Singapore’s Keppel, one of the largest offshore rig builders in the world, recently announced that for the whole of 2012, the company secured S$10 billion in contracts from customers across Brazil, the Caspian Sea and Mexico. This brings the company’s net orderbook to $12.8 billion as at end December 2012, with visibility into 2019.

The company’s 2012 net profit improved 28% to S$1,914 million, compared to FY 2011′s S$1,491 million.
