KICT Inks Partnership with Deltares

The Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Deltares.

The first joint project of KICT and Deltares is entitled ‘the interaction between vegetation patchiness and river hydraulics: linking field, flume and model to reduce uncertainties in predictions’.

In this project large unscaled flume experiments with natural vegetation patches in 5 m wide and 600 m long flumes with a natural bed will be carried out at the outdoors ‘River Experiment Center’ of the KICT in Andong.

Results will provide important validation data for numerical modelling studies that link to the management of vegetated floodplains.

The memorandum of understanding was signed during the IAHR conference in Den Haag.

Dr. Hyeon Jun Kim (Director Hydro Science and Engineering Research Institute – KICT) and Tom Schilperoort (Director South and East Asia – Deltares) were present to sign this important step in the further cooperation between the institutes.
