Klaipedos Nafta signs two LNG terminal deals

Klaipedos Nafta, the operator of Lithuania’s first LNG import terminal, said Friday its has signed terminal usage deals with Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas and Achema.

According to a statement by Klaipedos Nafta, Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas has been allocated LNG regasification capacities of 2383478.06 MWh for a period from February 5 to  September 30, 2016.

Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas, a natural gas unit of state-controlled energy group Lietuvos Energija, announced on Friday it entered into a deal to buy LNG from Norwegian energy giant Statoil.

Under the second contract, Lithuanian fertilizer producer Achema has been allocated LNG regasification capacities of 7238034.07 MWh with a usage period from February 15 to September 30, Klaipedos Nafta said.

Statoil said last week is was still in the final stages of talks to supply chilled gas to Achema, that has been looking for alternative sources as its gas supply deal with Gazprom expired during 2015.
