Klaipedos Nafta to advise on Colombia LNG terminal

Klaipedos Nafta, the operator of Lithuania’s first LNG terminal, said it has signed a cooperation deal with Colombia’s Sociedad Portuaria El Cayao S.A. E.S.P. (SPEC).

Under the deal, the Lithuanian company will help build a liquefied natural gas terminal in Colombia. Klaipedos Nafta informed that it will consult SPEC on construction, commissioning and start-up phase and provide theoretical and practical training at the Lithuanian LNG terminal as well as in Colombia.

Sociedad Portuaria El Cayao signed a 20-year FSRU deal with Norway’s Höegh LNG in November last year. The contract does include options for SPEC to reduce the term to five, ten or fifteen years.

The LNG import terminal in Cartagena on the Atlantic coast of Colombia is almost identical to the one located in the port of Klaipeda. The project is expected to start operation before the end of 2016.
