Klaipedos Nafta’s LNG revenue climbs

Klaipedos Nafta, the operator of the first Lithuanian LNG terminal said on Wednesday that the import facility earned 3.5 percent more in the January-November period.

Sales revenues coming from the regasification activity from Höegh LNG’s FSRU Independence located in the port of Klaipeda were at 61.4 million euros (US$65.8 million) in the 11-month period, as compared to 59.3 million euros in the same period the year before.

In November, the sales revenues rose slightly to 5.5 million euros as compared to 5.4 million euros in the same month in 2015, Klaipedos Nafta said in its latest monthly report.

The terminal regasified 13,761 thousand MWh of natural gas in the 11-month period, 3.1 times greater than last year. The regas volumes rose to 911 thousand MWh in November versus 282 thousand MWh in the comparable month, the report said.

The largest of the three Baltic nations, Lithuania started importing LNG in December 2014 in order to reduce its dependence on Russian pipeline gas supplies.

Deliveries to Lithuania’s LNG terminal are being split between Litgas, a part of state-controlled energy group Lietuvos Energija, Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas, and Lithuanian fertilizer producer Achema.
