Komlev: U.S. Shale Gas Cannot Replace Russian Deliveries to Europe

Russian natural gas deliveries to Europe cannot be replaced with U.S. shale gas, Sergey Komlev, Head of Contract Structuring and Price Formation Directorate of Gazprom Export said at the Flame Conference which is currently being held in Amsterdam.

“There were no major increases in U.S. shale gas production in the last couple of years and I do not expect that U.S. shale gas can be a replacement for Russian gas,” he said.

Gazprom is a reliable supplier to Europe and it is the only company that increased gas deliveries to Europe in the first quarter of this year, he added.
