Kongsberg to Equip World's Largest Container Ships

Kongsberg has won a bid to deliver “Full Picture” solutions to highly advanced and environmentally friendly container ships. The contract has a value of more than NOK 150 million (approx. USD 24.3 million) with an option of  seven additional ships. 

In strong international competition Kongsberg Maritime has secured contracts to deliver fully integrated navigation and automation systems for a series of ten container vessels ordered by United Arab Shipping Company (UASC).

The new builds shall be delivered from Hyundai Heavy Industries during 2015 and the contract value for the first ten ships is more than NOK 150 Million. The awarded contract has an option for seven  more vessels of the same type. The vessels will be the world’s largest, and amongst the most technologically advanced and environmentally friendly containerships.

Kongsberg Maritime “Full picture” integrated vessel control system includes the navigation, communication, and automation of machinery and propulsion systems. Included in KONGSBERG’s scope of

supply is also a state of the art, vessel performance system. The vessel performance system shall monitor and give the operators operational advice regarding energy efficiency, fuel usage and optimal sailing.
