KT Maritime names two Prelude FLNG ISVs

Perth-based KT Maritime Services Australia, a joint venture between Kotug International and Teekay Shipping Australia, named two Infield Support Vessels at ASL Shipyards in Singapore. 

The two Rotortugs have been purpose-built to support Shell’s FLNG facility Prelude, the world’s largest floating production facility, that will process natural gas collected from subsea wells 475 kilometers (almost 300 miles) offshore from Broome, Western Australia.

Together with a third ISV the vessels will be employed to maneuver LNG and LPG carriers alongside the Prelude, as well as assist with condensate offtakes, emergency response and personnel transfer, Kotug said in its statement.

The two vessels, RT Kuri Bay, RT Roebuck Bay join the RT Beagle Bay, which was named and christened at the ASL Shipyard in Singapore in July.

Shell’s Prelude FLNG facility is currently under construction at the Samsung Heavy Industries’ shipyard in South Korea.

Once it arrives at the Prelude gas field, it will be connected to the subsea system and when in operation, the Prelude FLNG facility will produce at least 5.3 million tonnes (mtpa) per annum of liquids: 3.6 mtpa of LNG, 1.3 mtpa of condensate (equivalent to 35,000 bbl/d) and 0.4 mtpa of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
