Lankhorst Ropes Offers Pre-Tension Service for Steel Wire Rope

Lankhorst Ropes has announced an on-site, spooler rental service for pre-tensioning steel wire rope when installing onto a winch system. The service comprises a mobile tensioner with up to 100T back tension, hydraulic powerpack and control pedestal.

Pre-tensioning rope when loading onto a winch is critical to ensuring longer wire rope service life and safe operation. “It is important to pre-tension to avoid damaging the rope when it is first tensioned during lifting operations. Our pre-tensioner will ensure the wire rope is installed at the correct tension to prevent it ‘diving’ between the rope layers on the winch,” commented Nico Jongkind, Sales Director, Lankhorst Ropes -Steel Wire Ropes Offshore.

The tensioner allows pre-tensioning between 5 tonnes minimum to 100 tonnes maximum, manually adjustable. With 1800 mm drum diameter and seven grooves, it is suitable for rope up to 120 mm diameter tensioned.

As the tensioner has its own diesel power pack it can be used independent of any external electrical power supply. Additionally Lankhorst is also able to supply a 40T spooler to handle the wire rope transport reel.

The Lankhorst tensioner rental also includes skilled operators who are professionally trained to install the steel wire rope on the quayside or on board a vessel or platform; wherever the tensioner is needed.
