Last Arun LNG cargo heads to South Korea

Indonesia’s Arun plant shipped its last LNG cargo on Wednesday to South Korea’s Kogas, the world’s largest corporate buyer of LNG.

The Arun LNG plant exported its first cargo on December 14, 1977.

Since then, about 4000 LNG tankers departed from the liquefaction facility in Lhokseumawe region, according to a statement by SKKMigas.

The Pertamina-operated facility is now being converted to a receiving and regasification terminal for an estimated cost of US$80 million.

It is expected that the converted plant will receive its first LNG shipments from BP’s Tangguh project in 2015.
