Latest Addition to OSC Fleet, VLCC TAQAH Named in South Korea

Oman Shipping Company S.A.O.C. (OSC) named, few weeks ago, their latest Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) TAQAH, at Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) shipyard in Ulsan, South Korea.

TAQAH has a 317,000 deadweight ton (DWT) capacity and is 333m in length overall, 60m in beam with a design draft of 21m.

The vessel will be technically managed by Oman Ship Management Company (OSMC) in Muscat, and will be commercially managed by OSC’s joint Venture partner NAVIG8, in the VL8 Pool in Singapore.

Since commercial operations began in 2003, OSC now has a fleet of 43 vessels and an order book of 2 additional Very Large Ore Carriers due in 2012, and 1 LNG Carrier due in 2014. The DWT capacity of the current fleet is around 6.7 million DWT, increasing to around 8 million DWT once the order book is delivered.
