Launching of 1st Havyard Vessel Built for Chinese Shipowner

The first ever ship of a Havyard design built for Chinese shipowners was last week launched in Shanghai.  The vessel from the Herøy-based company Havyard Group is of an 843 design and was launched at Yuexin Shipbuilding on Friday 28th October. The AHTS will be named «KAN TAN 225» and is built for the Chinese shipowners Shanghai Offshore Oil Shipping Co. of Sinopec. Sinopec is also China`s largest manufacturer and supplier of refined oil products.

 – It is the first time that a vessel of a Havyard design is constructed for Chinese shipowners, says Executive Vice President Gunnar Larsen of Havyard Global Solutions AS, who is very pleased about this prestigious project being completed.

Vice Director of Shanghai Offshore Oil Shipping Co. Of Sinopec, Wang Haiping, puts special emphasis on the shape of this Havyard design and the good service that Havyard has provided during the project.

– We are looking forward to further cooperating with Havyard where we can put forward even more of our own ideas and wishes in future designs, says Haiping.

Technical Director of Yuexin Shipbuilding, Xu Zifang, informs that this is the third vessel of a Havyard design that the shipyard has constructed. – Cooperating with Havyard Group has paid dividends, says Zifang.

In addition to delivering design and engineering, Havyard Group is also part of a programme with Yuexin in sharing shipbuilding technology, ensuring the best possible project implementation and end result for both shipyard and shipowners.

Havyard 843 CD is developed by Havyard Design & Engineering and is the next generation AHTS, developed for future needs and in line with requirements for such vessels. There is great emphasis on stability, safe operations and efficient and building friendly solutions with competitive building and operational costs. The ship is equipped with a new anchor handling winch concept providing safer and more efficient operations.
