LDT, Litgas book capacity at Lithuania’s LNG terminal

Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas (LDT) and Litgas have booked LNG regasification capacities at Lithuania’s first LNG import terminal starting this October, Klaipedos Nafta, the terminal operator said.

This follows the closure of “annual terminal capacities allocation procedure” and conclusion of agreements with the terminal users, Klaipedos Nafta said.

The company noted that the capacities were “allocated in advance, i.e. before the start of upcoming Gas Year, lasting from the 1st of October, 2016 to the 1st of October, 2017”.

Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas, a natural gas unit of state-controlled energy group Lietuvos Energija, has been allocated LNG regasification capacities of 825,100,000 kWh for a period from October 1 to December 31, 2016.

Litgas, also part of Lietuvos Energija, has been allocated LNG regasification capacities of 3,602,216,638 kWh for the same period, Klaipedos Nafta said.

Lithuania started importing LNG in December 2014 via Höegh LNG’s FSRU Independence located in the port of Klaipeda in order to reduce its dependence on Russian gas supplies.

All previous deliveries to Lithuania’s LNG terminal were strictly for Litgas, a part of state-controlled energy group Lietuvos Energija. However, as of February this year, the imported volumes are split between Litgas, Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas, and Lithuanian fertilizer producer Achema.
