Lietuvos Dujų Tiekimas inks natural gas supply deal with Latvia’s Latvenergo

Lithuania’s natural gas supply and trading company Lietuvos Dujų Tiekimas, part of state-owned Lietuvos Energija, has agreed to supply natural gas to Latvenergo, Latvia’s largest consumer.

The company now has 12 supply deals in place with Latvian companies and has set out plans to supply 1.2 TWh to these companies by the end of the year.

This translates to 10 percent of Latvian natural gas supply market, Lietuvos Dujų Tiekimas said.

Due to sales and orders for the remainder of the year, Lietuvos Dujų Tiekimas ordered two additional cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and has already started the supply to an underground gas storage facility in Latvia.

The company currently imports n<tural gas via pipeline, the Inčukalnis natural gas storage facility and Höegh LNG’s FSRU Independence serving as Lithuania’s LNG import terminal in the port of Klaipeda.

The company has recently booked 960 GWh of additional capacity at the terminal for the period o August 1 until October 31, 2017.
