Lithuania Invites Petronas to Bid for Klaipeda LNG Supply Contract

Lithuania has invited Petronas of Malaysia to bid for a contract to supply liquefied natural gas for its terminal in Klaipeda Port.

We have invited Petronas to take part in this tender. We see Petronas as a very serious possible partner,Evalda Gustas, the country’s Minister of Economy told Bernama after he met with Petronas’ President Tan Sri Dato’ Shamsul Azhar Abbas.

The tendering process has already started and will be finalised by year-end. Petronas has to decide this month or next month whether they want to participate,” he added.

Höegh LNG of Norway has in March last year entered into a firm ten year time charter with Klaipedos Nafta to supply a floating LNG storage and regasification unit (FSRU) to be used as an LNG import terminal in Lithuania.

The FSRU is currently being built at HHI’s shipyard in Ulsan, South Korea.
