Lithuania’s LNG regas volumes dip in September

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification volumes at Lithuania’s first and only import terminal in the port of Klaipeda dropped during the month of September. 

The facility regasified and reloaded 1.1 TWh of natural gas during the month of September, dropping 43.7 percent compared to the corresponding month last year.

The terminal operator, Klaipedos Nafta noted in its report that regasification volumes for the first nine months slipped 33.4 percent from 10.6 TWh last year to 7.1 TWh during the period under review.

Sales revenue from the facility reached €5.4 million ($6.2 million) for the month of September, 3.6 percent below the €5.6 million in the corresponding month last year.

Sales revenue for the first nine months in 2018 reached €75.7 million, 4.8 million below the €79.5 million during the corresponding period last year.

Lithuania, the largest of the three Baltic nations started importing LNG in December 2014. The FSRU Independence currently provides Lithuania with roughly half of its gas needs with the rest being sourced from Russian Gazprom.
