LNG imports from Bahia Blanca to Brasil restart

Brazil’s Uruguaiana thermoelectric plant in Rio Grande do Sul is set for a restart as the country resumes LNG imports from Argentina’s Bahia Blanca LNG terminal.

According to AES Brasil, the power station’s restart is scheduled for February 11, Argus reports.

Initially, one 250MW turbine will be set into operation for 60 days with the second turbine being added at a later stage.

The facility, that has been out of operations since May 2014, will use the regasified LNG delivered via a pipeline from the Bahia Blanca terminal. Brasil put the plant offline as it failed to reach an agreement with Argentina regarding LNG imports from the Bahia Blanca terminal.
