LNG Limited’s Bear Paw wins approval to build gas pipeline

Bear Paw Pipeline, a unit of Australia-based LNG Limited, has received Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board approval to construct a 62.5 km natural gas pipeline from Goldboro to the proposed Bear Head LNG export facility in Canada.

Bear Paw would interconnect the Maritimes and Northeast Pipeline (M&NP) mainline, offshore gas, and other supplies near Goldboro Nova Scotia, to the 8 mtpa Bear Head LNG export facility.

The Goldboro to Point Tupper pipeline will connect Bear Head LNG to the North American natural gas pipeline network.

Bear Paw’s pipeline is integral to the development of Bear Head LNG,” LNG Limited’s CEO and President of Bear Paw, Greg Vesey said in a statement on Wednesday..

The Permit to Construct is an important regulatory component. We are putting all the elements in place to develop a successful liquefied natural gas export facility on Cape Breton Island and the pipeline is a strategic and critical element.”

Expenditures for construction of the pipeline would commence only after financial close of the Bear Head LNG project, the statement reads.
