Jaxport, Crowley Maritime and Eagle LNG received the two 260-ton liquefied natural gas storage tanks for the bunkering facility being built at the Talleyrand marine terminal in Jacksonville.

The tanks will be used to fuel Crowley’s new Commitment class Container-Roll-on/Roll-off ships under construction at the VT Halter Marine in Pascagoula, Mississippi, to serve the Puerto Rico trade lane.

The facility, scheduled for completion this summer, will be adjacent to Crowley’s operating terminal and each LNG storage tank built Chart Industries in Europe has the capacity to hold 1 million liters of the chilled fuel.

The first of Crowley’s two LNG-fueled vessels, the El Coquí was launched at the VT Halter Marine shipyard in Pascagoula, Mississippi.
