LIthuania, Statoil in LNG Talks

Lithuania is in negotiations with Statoil of Norway over LNG supplies for its LNG import terminal, the country’s energy ministry said.

LNG carriers from Hammerfest export terminal, operated by Statoil, would reach Lithuania’s Klaipedos Nafta LNG import terminal within five days, which is an attractive alternative because of lower transportation costs, Bloomberg reported.

Höegh LNG in March entered into a ten year time charter with Klaipedos Nafta for a floating LNG storage and regasification unit to be used as an LNG import terminal in Lithuania.

The deal was recently approved by shareholders of Klaipedos Nafta.
