MACS' Multipurpose Container Vessel Named

German shipping company Maritime Carrier Shipping MACS has named its newly built Multipurpose Container Vessel, the Bright Sky.

The vessel comes as the third in a series of six that MACS ordered back in 2007 and 2008 with a price tag of $42 million per unit.

MACS had placed original orders at Jiangsu Shenghua shipyard but due to difficulties with the ships’ construction and following several delays the company decided to complete the ships at Qingshan Shipyard.

Length overall: 199.80 meter

Breadth Moulded: 30.20 meter

Deadweight: 37,443 t

Container Capacity: 2,208 TEU

Heavy Lift Gear up to 240 ton

Cargo Holds: 5 box shaped cargo holds

Speed: 16.0 kn

The Bright Sky will operate on the route between northern Europe and South Africa, carrying mainly breakbulk.
