MACS' New Containership Named

The container carrier Bright Sky, the third newly built unit for the German shipping company MACS, was officially named last month.

The Port of Antwerp CEO Eddy Bruyninckx welcomed the vessel to the port of Antwerp. The Bright Sky will operate on the route between northern Europe and South Africa, carrying mainly breakbulk.

The Bright Sky belongs to a series of six vessels that MACS ordered back in 2007 and 2008 for a reported price of USD 42 million per unit. The vessels were originally ordered from Jiangsu Shenghua shipyard but due to the difficulties during the vessel’s construction that task was shifted to Qingshan Shipyard that, at the end, completed the vessel.
