 Malaysia Songa Venus to Become Operational within Days

Songa Offshore​, Cyprus-based offshore drilling company, provides fleet update for October 2011.

Songa Venus commenced operations for Petronas in Malaysia on 20 October after completion of contractual preparedness, acceptance testing and mobilization to the first location. During preparations to run the BOP, re-worked and newly installed components failed and the rig was subsequently shut down on 30 October. The failed parts have been repaired and the company expect the rig to start operating again during this week. Songa Venus achieved an operating efficiency of 82% during the operational part of the month.

Songa Mercur completed its drilling operations for Gazflot LLC at Sakhalin, Russia with an operating efficiency of 100% during the operational part of the month. The rig commenced de-mobilization on 20 October and the rig is scheduled to commence its two well program in Malaysia with Petronas Carigali in direct continuation of the de-mobilization from Sakhalin. The duration of the Petronas Carigali program is estimated to be 90 days with an anticipated startup towards the end of November.

Songa Dee continued its program for Statoil at the Gulfaks field, and the rig achieved an operating efficiency of 95% during the month.

Songa Delta completed operations on the Alve field and departed 25 October for its planned Special Periodic Survey period at CCB base outside Bergen, Norway. The yard stay commenced 1 November and is planned for approximately 40 days. The rig will thereafter re-commence the contract with Wintershall / Det Norske Oljeselskap. The rig achieved an operating efficiency of 99% during the operational part of the month.

Songa Trym achieved an operating efficiency of 100% during the month. The rig continues to operate for Statoil in Norway.

Songa Eclipse completed its contractual upgrades and client operational preparedness work and commenced mobilization to Angola on the 15th October.
