Malaysia’s Eversendai scores offshore construction deal with Saudi Aramco

Malaysian engineering and construction company Eversendai has secured an offshore construction contract with Saudi Aramco.

According to Eversendai, its subsidiary Eversendai Offshoe RMC FZE in the UAE, has been awarded a „major offshore fabrication project for Saudi Aramco.“

The company said the contract to build „jackets“ has been awarded through Saipem, an Italian oilfield services company, which is one of the Long-Term Agreement (LTA) Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractors for Saudi Aramco.

In an email sent to Offshore Energy Today, Eversendai said the order was for ten jackets and 19 piles. The total tonnage of the jackets to be delivered is 27,000 tons, and the expected delivery date is 2018. The jackets will be deployed at offshore fields operated by Saudi Aramco.

The Malaysian fabricator has also shared that Eversendai Offshore has received the Saudi Aramco 9com certification that allows it to execute Saudi Aramco projects which are only open to prequalified and approved companies “who fulfil highly stringent requirements by Saudi Aramco.”

With this certification, the company’s fabrication yard in Ras Al Khaimah becomes a pre-qualified vendor for fabrication and construction of offshore platforms and jackets for Saudi Aramco.

“As the number of fabrication yards in the Middle East with Saudi Aramco certification is limited, Eversendai has a high potential in increasing their bid conversion rate bidding through the Long-Term Agreement (LTA) Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractors or through Saudi Aramco itself directly” said Narish Nathan, Chief Executive Officer of Eversendai Offshore.

“Eversendai Offshore is a relatively young player in the Oil and Gas industry. Our facility in Ras Al Khaimah is only 2.5 years old and to receive this highly sought-after certification is indeed a feat we are proud of,” said Tan Sri A K Nathan, Group Managing Director of Eversendai Corporation Berhad.

“Eversendai is the pioneer company from Malaysia to have received this coveted certification and to be awarded a major fabrication project for Saudi Aramco in a relatively short time upon the certification, is on its own, a worthwhile merit for us,” he further said.

The company has recently delivered its first fully fabricated 4-legged jacket to its client Rosetti Marino. The jacket has a height of 63 meters with a foot print of 33 x 33 meters and a weight of approximately 2,000 tonnes.

Worth noting, apart from jackets and piles, Eversendai has also constructed more complex structures in the Middle East. The company was in May 2014 hired to build two liftboats by Vahana Offshore, a global operator and service provider for offshore works. In April this year, Eversendai loaded out the first of two liftboats built at its Ras Al Khaimah facility.

According to the specifications revealed back in 2014 when the liftboats were ordered, each liftboat will consist of a rectangular hull and four 95 metre truss type legs; each with an electric driven rack and pinion jacking system, which will allow the unit to jack up in water depths of up to a maximum of 70 metres. The liftboats will be equipped with a 300 tonnes crane, and will be able to accommodate a minimum of 150 personnel. The units will be propelled by its own thrusters to a speed of 5 knots and it will have Dynamic Positioning (DP-2).
