Ulstein, famous for its offshore support vessels said on Monday that Lars Lühr Olsen was appointed new managing director of Ulstein Verft. Inge Sleipnes is new director strategic purchasing in Ulstein Group.

Lars Lühr Olsen comes from the position as purchasing director in the group. He has previously been deputy managing director at Ulstein Verft and headed the shipping activity in the group. He has worked in Ulstein for more than two decades.

He holds a Master in Business and Economics and has technical education from the navy.

Also, Inge Sleipnes has been appointed director strategic purchasing in Ulstein Group after Lars Lühr Olsen. Inge has a background from technical college and is a skilled electrician. He has worked in Ulstein for many years, Ulstein said on Monday. He first joined the company as an apprentice in the mid-1990s and has later held several positions, of which the most recent role was deputy director strategic purchasing.

The Norwegian shipbuilder has over the years delivered no less than 62 platform supply vessels, according to data on its website. However, following the significant reduction in the oil and gas sector spending Ulstein in 2017 entered new market segments, with contracts within exploration cruise, RoPax, and offshore wind.

Just last week, the Ulstein-build Acta Centaurus offshore wind support vessel was named in a ceremony in Den Helder. The vessel, also designed by Ulstein, is getting ready for its first assignment in offshore wind.
