MARAD grants Port Dolphin LNG port license termination

The U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) granted the surrender and termination of the Port Dolphin Energy Deepwater port license to own construct and operate the LNG deepwater port approximately 28 miles off the western coast of Florida.

Port Dolphin Energy requested the termination of the license to build the deepwater LNG terminal approximately 42 miles from Port Manatee, Manatee County, Florida, due to changes in the natural gas industry.

Due to the recent developments, Port Dolphin said, the United States have become an exporter of natural gas, rather than an importer, leading to Port Dolphin not being able to negotiate commercial contracts for the proposed project.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission had already vacated Port Dolphin’s certificate to construct and operate the natural gas facilities in October last year.
