Maran Tankers Sells VLCC to Russian Owner

Greek oil tanker owner and operator Maran Tankers has decreased the size of its fleet as it agreed to sell its Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) Astro Chorus, according to data provided by VesselsValue.

The 305,700 dwt tanker was sold to an undisclosed Russian shipowner for a price of USD 24.5 million.

Built in 2001 by South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME), the ship features a length of 332 meters ad a width of 58 meters.

The vessel was a part of the company’s fleet of 38 tankers, which have a capacity of a total of 13.7 million dwt.

The company has 13 newbuildings on order, including Suezmax tankers and VLCCs, all of which are scheduled to join the company by 2019.
