Marine renewable energy to have its day at the European Parliament

As part of the MERIKA project, the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) is organising a Marine Renewable Energy Research Day in Brussels on Wednesday 30 November 2016.

The Research Day will take place at the European Parliament, hosted by Ian Duncan MEP, and will explore the emerging marine renewable energy sector with experts, and showcase the university’s research contribution.

The event will conclude with a whisky tasting sponsored by Highlands and Islands Enterprise to celebrate St Andrew’s Day.

MERIKA (Marine Energy Research Innovation and Knowledge Accelerator) is an initiative by UHI, which revolves around the concept of turning the UHI Faculty of Science, Health and Engineering into a reference research and innovation hub for all of Europe on the theme of marine energy.

Funded by the EU Seventh Framework Programme, the MERIKA project runs from 2014-2017.
