According to the shipbuilder, the cruise company’s Costa Smeralda would be delivered in mid-November, instead of the previously scheduled mid-October deadline.

“With its new cruise ship LNG propulsion system … the complexity and sophistication of the ship is very high in order to create a unique Costa-style passenger experience,” Meyer Turku said, adding that the 180,000 gross ton ship is much larger than the recently built vessel at the shipyard.

In order to undertake these operations, Meyer Turku explained that it had a slower progress speed than needed, despite counter-actions.

With the new time frame, the shipbuilder “is going to deliver a highly sophisticated cruise ship in the usual high Meyer Turku quality.”
