MISC CEO retires, new appointments made

LNG shipper MISC said that its President and Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Nasarudin Md Idris will be retiring on 31st December.

Datuk Nasarudin has been in this role since June 2010 and prior to that had served as a Non-Independent Non-Executive Director on the Board since 2004. Datuk Nasarudin will remain on the MISC Board as a Non-Independent, Non-Executive Director from 1st January 2015.

The company has appointed Yee Yang Chien as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of MISC Berhad with effect from 1st January 2015. Yee was appointed as Chief Operating Officer on 1st July 2013 and has held the position of Vice President, Corporate Planning and Development since 1st April 2008. Yee first joined MISC in 2001 and subsequently joined AET in 2005 prior to returning to MISC in 2008.

In addition, Datuk George Ratilal, will be stepping down as MISC’s Chairman on 14 January 2015 and will remain on the Board as a Non-Independent Non-Executive Director.

Dato’ Ab. Halim bin Mohyiddin will be appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director and Chairman of MISC Bwith effect from 15th January 2015.

Dato’ Ab. Halim holds had a long career in KPMG. At the time of his retirement from KPMG in 2001, Dato’ Ab. Halim was the Partner in Charge of the Assurance and Financial Advisory Services Division and was also responsible for the Secured e-Commerce Practice of the firm.

Dato’ Ab. Halim is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and is a Council Member and Chairman of the Education Committee of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA).
