Monadelphous lands Barrow Island job from Chevron

Engineering company Monadelphous Group Limited has won a new three-year deal with Chevron in Australia.

The deal is for facilities maintenance services related to the Barrow Island assets, offshore W. Australia, operated by Chevron Australia Pty Ltd.

The contract is for the operation and maintenance of support facilities and associated utilities, and involves water and wastewater treatment plants, power generation and distribution systems, as well as the management and maintenance of numerous buildings, vehicles, plant and equipment.

Around 500 people are anticipated to be employed to execute the work under the contract.

“This contract secured through our oil and gas services division, continues our long-standing relationship with Chevron Australia and demonstrates our capability to deliver a diverse range of operations and maintenance services,” Monadelphous Managing Director Rob Velletri said.

Gorgon

Chevron, based in California, U.S., is developing the giant Gorgon gas field, offshore Australia.

As part ot the development, the company is looking to produce gas from the Gorgon and Jansz-Io gas fields, located within the Greater Gorgon area, between 130 and 220 kilometres off the northwest coast of Western Australia.

The project encompasses the construction of a 15.6 million tonne per annum (MTPA) liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant on Barrow Island and a domestic gas plant with the capacity to supply 300 terajoules of gas per day to Western Australia.

Gorgon LNG will be off loaded via a 2.1 kilometre long loading jetty for transport to international markets. The domestic gas will be piped to the Western Australian mainland.
